Tampa Bay Lightning working on an extension for Jon Cooper

The Tampa Bay Lightning are wokring on a contract extension for head coach Jon Cooper, who was hired in March 2013, according to Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet. Cooper lead his team to the Stanley Cup finals last season but came up short against the Chicago Blackhawks.

General manager Steve Yzerman has declined to comment, but it is believed that the organization is very pleased with Cooper’s job so far.

An other high priority is the get Steven Stamkos signature on a new extension, as he is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer if nothing happens.
