Colorado Avalanche center Ryan O’Reilly has one year left of his current contract before becoming an unrestricted free agent. The team is now listining to offers for their forward according to reporter Elliotte Friedman on Sportsnet.
O’Reilly was picked by the Avs in the second round at 33rd overall in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. He has a cap hit of $ 6 million so it will not be easy to extend his contract. It is believed that the Avalanche are looking for a defenseman in a potential trade.
Last season the 24-year-old forward played 82 regular season games, and collected 17 goals and 38 points, for 55 points. He was also a member of Team Canada, that captured the gold medal at the World Championships in May, in the Czech Republic.
